Virginia I. “Gini” Heidt, 64, Dickinson, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck. There will be a Liturgy of Word Service for Gini at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a rosary and time of sharing at 6 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Virginia I. Riehl was born during a blizzard on December 4, 1955 to Max and Eulalie (Meier) Riehl in Lemmon, S. D. When Eulalie remarried Louie J. Heidt, Gini proudly accepted his last name. She moved with her family to Idaho and then back to North Dakota. She was educated in Catholic Schools and public schools. She was a member of the National Honor Society at DHS. Gini excelled in German and joined the German Club, eventually traveling to Germany. She had a full academic scholarship to UND; however her college plans for her future changed due to unforeseen circumstances. She had various jobs including working in Medora with the park service and the Dickinson Public Library. Gini`s intelligence and love of books continued until her passing. 

Gini was a kind, generous and gentle soul. She loved animals, especially cats for their independent spirit. She was a member of the Humane Society and loved to save the animals. She loved flowers, gardening and various types of music and dancing. She was loyal to her friends and enjoyed meeting up with them to go to movies. Gini was adventurous and liked to travel to cities around the Dickinson area. The Vikings were her football team and she always listened to DHS Sports on the radio. Gini fell in love with the Harry Potter series, Doc Martin and would have won big money on the Wheel of Fortune.

Gini had a special love for her nieces and nephews, Brandon, Carson, Ashie, Levi, Darian, Shelissa, Zachary and Natali.

Her death has brought grief and peace that she is in heaven with her loved ones. She will be deeply missed by her mother, Lollie Heidt; sisters, Maxine (Ray), Brenda and Sheila; and brother, David Heidt.

She is preceded in death by her two, dads, Max and Louie J.; her grandmother, Anna; numerous uncles, cousins and a niece and nephew.
