Ralph married Frieda Schmidt in Richardton on September 23, 1957. To this nearly 62 year union they were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He spent most of his working years as a salesman and cattleman creating many friendships along the way. In 1983 he founded Boespflug Trailers, selling livestock, horse and flatbed trailers plus livestock feed. He retired in 2003 and sold the business which is still operated by family members today. Prior to retirement, a hobby of raising and driving buggy horses gave him much enjoyment.

Ralph and Frieda moved to Dickinson in 2004. In his retirement, Ralph found pleasure driving courtesy car until his health would no longer allow. Ralph and Frieda enjoyed traveling; making the roadway trip to Alaska five times, plus many other destinations and several cruises.
