Raymond J. Banyai, 83, Dickinson, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Raymondís Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Thomas Richter as celebrant. Interment will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be form 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Ray was born February 21, 1935 in rural Gladstone to Anton and Anna (Goetz) Banyai. He graduated from St. Patrickís School in 1949. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1957 to 1963. Ray was united in marriage to Betty Bren on February 2, 1965.

He worked for Martin Construction, Meyer Construction, and Northern Improvement where he retired in 1998. After retiring, Ray enjoyed going to coffee with his friends, walking, playing Bingo, going to the casino, and playing cards with family and friends.

Ray is survived by his children, Kim (Kip) Rohr, Tim (Deanna) Banyai, Kris (Rick) Stein, and Bradley (Mindy) Banyai; grandchildren, Shawnacy (Kelly) Wanner, Bryce Rohr, and Catherine Banyai (due February 2019); great-grandchildren, Dominic (Sydnee) Wanner, Chandler Wanner, Jordyn Wanner; and great-great-grandchild, Logan (due January 2019); brothers, Tony and Richard; sisters, Evelyn Walter, Loretta Robinson, and Jeanette Hicks; and sister-in-law, Wilma Fitterer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Anna Banyai; his wife, Betty; sisters, Catherine Wageman and Marilyn Brown; brothers-in-law, Richard Walter, David Wageman, Gordon Brown, Adolph Kostelecky, and Mike Fitterer; sisters-in-law, Shirley Banyai and Dorothy Kostelecky.
